The Entrepreneur

From Corporate America to Business Owner

Most executives, at one time or another, dream of breaking out of the confines of the corporate structure and starting their own company. For Sarah, (not her real name) that moment came when the Fortune 500 Company she had joined 16 years before was purchased by another company with a very different culture and go-to-market strategy. She decided the time had come to make a change.

It was a good opportunity, but the draw of opening her own company, a marketing consultancy, and staying in New England was strong. What should she do?

To help her sort out her conflicting thoughts and feelings, Sarah called Mino. Working with Mino, Sarah realized that, although there were many things she enjoyed about working with a team of professionals aligned around a common purpose, she also realized that she just could not get charged up about going to work for someone else. After engaging in a variety of soul-searching conversations with Mino and completing several self-assessments, Sarah re-established a connection with her core values and realized that following her entrepreneurial spirit was a much better road to happiness and self-realization than returning to the corporate world.

With Mino’s continued encouragement and support, Sarah completed a business plan, developed a website for her new business, and designed and launched a series of marketing service packages aimed at the SOHO and small business markets. From day one, she has been growing her business at a steady clip, meeting the aggressive goals she set in her business plan.“I could not have achieved so much in such a short period of time without Mino’s help,” shared Sarah. “Mino’s persistent and insightful guidance helped me realize that building my own business was the right move for me. She also helped me tap into my skills and strengths, giving me the confidence to move forward with my business. The results have been beyond my wildest expectations.
